The Man

24-year-old kid, freelance media developer, PC tech, closet artist.

I was homegrown, homeschooled, and home-stewed in St. Louis, Missouri. I came out of the family rehab in Old North St. Louis a tint stranger than others and a mite sharper.

Behind the Code

I prefer Firefox, Opera, Chrome, and Internet Explorer web browsers, in that order, and I support fight spamBots and Save The Net. Ask me why and I’ll give you an earful any time.

It is said that all of the energy used to run this site is offset by wind energy elsewhere. I can only hope for a more robust environmental solution for servers in the future. In the meantime, servers everywhere are run via nonrenewable energy.

The backbone of the site is WordPress. The extra XHTML, CSS, PHP, and ECMAScript is hand-coded using Kai Liu’s modified Notepad2, a replacement to the standard Windows Notepad. I find the simple rhythm of hand-coding relaxing, like my wife’s crocheting or the logic-checking steps of a crossword puzzle.

As you can see, the site doesn’t get many hits; you’re special to me. You’ll notice the giant increase in visitors at the end of January and February 2010 – due to my post on Conan O’Brien, which you can view here. The subject was trending at the time, and due to a blip in the search engines I was showing up for hundreds of searches! A miracle.
